This role is an individual contributor for the Security Incident Response (SIR) Team. As the team has developed into a 24/7 365 operation, we require solid individual contributors that will investigate, analyze, and contain security incidents.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
- Solid ability to collaborate, delegate tasks and drive deadline compliance in a highly regulated, time sensitive environment
- Triage, escalation, and assisting the response of cybersecurity, policy and privacy related events and incidents
- Manage containment and remediation efforts of affected assets, IOCs, and TTPs
- Produce detailed incident reports and security recommendations
- Hold stakeholders accountable for remediation actions
- Providing training and guidance through complex incidents
- Integrate and collaborate with other subject matter experts throughout the organization
- Liaison with Cyber Defense, Privacy, Compliance, Legal, and Architecture teams
- Influence the creation and/or adoption of new standards and procedures
- Identify deficiencies in processes and tools, recommend security controls and/or corrective actions for mitigating technical and business risk. Contribute to Lessons Learned Meetings.
- Monitor security intake technologies for reports of security incidents
- On-Call duties may be required

Required Qualifications
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Cloud Security, Computer Forensics and/or equivalent work experience or 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Certification in cybersecurity (e.g. CISSP, Security+, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCSP, GCIA, GCIH, CEH, CySA+, OSCP, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience utilizing Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technology
- 3+ years of experience utilizing Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technology
- 3+ years of experience of Application Security experience
- 3+ years of industry recognized analysis frameworks (Kill Chain, Diamond Model, MITRE ATT&CK, NIST 800-53, etc.)
- 3+ years of fundamental security and network concepts (Operating systems, intrusion/detection, TCP/IP ports, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience with fundamental security related to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
- 3+ years of analyzing attack vectors, current threats, and security remediation strategies
- Ability to work off shift hours if needed (e.g. Nights and Weekends)
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain a NAC clearance

- Cybersecurity certification

As a requirement of UnitedHealth Group's contract with the Department of Defense, this position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86, (the National Agency Check Legal and Credit or NACLC). Successful completion of the NACLC process is a requirement for continued employment in this role. NACLC processing will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer and can take 3-6 months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance, and final results will be communicated as they are received. Failure to obtain final NACLC approval will result in termination from this role.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
