In joining the Optum Advisory Services Trend Analytics Consulting team: you’ll be part of a team that is a leader in health care cost analytics, with a proven track record of supporting health plans across the country though a diverse staff of Actuaries, Data/Research Analysts, and Business/Technology Consultants. Our consulting team has continued to expand capabilities and consulting presence by identifying, developing, and executing on new and exciting business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities
- Efficiently query and manipulate large databases of healthcare claims and eligibility data
- Write effective and efficient code both independently and under the guidance of project managers using best practice quality control procedures
- Creative data crafting - when something unexpected happens, identify root cause, find multiple solutions, implement the best possible long-term solution
- Perform both as an individual contributor and collaboratively with broader analytic and reporting team with proven ability as a self-starter, quick learner, and adaptable team member
- Maintain a consistently high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in all tasks, often operating under tight timelines, managing multiple development/production schedules
- Engage in client communications as appropriate for all important functions including data understanding/exploration, strategizing solutions, documentation, etc.
- Organize and present communications to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Produce clear, intuitive, and visually appealing reports to suit the needs and understanding of the audience, applying principles of visual best practices

Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis, data science, data-driven investigations, data storytelling, visualization, and/or analytic insight creation for executive consumption
- 3+ years of experience building PowerBI data models, deep knowledge of best practices, relational databases, pros/cons of various data storage methods, and ability to determine optimal data storage solutions
- 3+ years of experience handling terabyte size healthcare claims datasets and building efficient PowerBI models from large volumes of data
- 3+ years of experience and an advanced proficiency in SQL, SAS, R, and/or Python, ability to work in multiple programming languages
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with DAX and M coding
- 2+ years of experience with medical claims/utilization trend reporting
- 1+ years of experience with extracting data from Enterprise Data Warehouses and Enterprise Data Lakes
- 1+ years of experience working with actuarial team(s) with an understanding of actuarial concepts

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
