As the Chief Information Officer for the UnitedHealthcare Ancillary and Individual (UHC A&I) business you will be accountable for strategy, engineering, product delivery and the critical interface between business needs, user needs, and the technology capabilities for the UHC A&I business which includes Specialty Benefits, Student Resources, Individual, and UMR (TPA/ASO) businesses. In addition to cSuite business relationships, you would own software engineering and delivery for all businesses. You will be expected to recommend technology solutions that can help grow the business, lower operational costs, drive efficiency and provide other business benefit.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include
- Works closely with the UHC A&I CEO (and their leadership team) to support the business plan and enable business outcomes through technology
- Deliver software optimized for integration with our medical business
- Lead and coach on Agile product delivery across the organization
- Work with product managers to ensure clear roadmap and backlogs are in place
- Establish clear goals and objectives, develop KPIs that will clearly indicate progress towards those goals and business outcomes
- Simplify technology footprint by enabling enterprise assets and analyzing acquired technology
- Lead operational, security, performance and stability indicators
- Actively review customer feedback, while continuously incorporating findings into the product to measurably improve Net Promoter Score (NPS)
- Hire and develop high performing engineering teams
In this role, you will represent and drive the UnitedHealthcare Technology (UHCT) strategy as follows:
- Define a platform consolidation plan for the A&I businesses and execute on that plan
- Drive operational efficiency and expand business value through GenAI
- Enable cloud migration strategy for A&I businesses
- Implement a migration and integration plan for acquired businesses
- Select and implement suitable technology to streamline internal operations
- Design and customize systems and platforms to improve customer experience
- Remain up to date on industry and technology trends to help provide a competitive advantage
- Drive E2E architecture and vision in partnership with UHCT Architects
- Manage internal and external partner integration and performance
- Ensure appropriate operational and performance monitoring
- Optimize operating model, throughput, and value we receive for our investments
- Identify and resolve barriers to effectively plan/build/run of technology assets

Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare or insurance product development
- Demonstrated success leveraging technology to meet business objectives
- History of effective working relationships with cSuite leaders and key business partners to drive change agendas
- Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective
- Proven success leading global technology teams of 500 people and leading through other leaders
- Experience leading through influence in a large, matrixed, global environment
- Management of a budget of $50M+
- Experience managing the work of vendor teams to ensure UHCT quality, security and performance standards are met
- Proven track record of success building scalable solutions that support consumer experiences
- Broad technology experience, including complex systems integration and infrastructure expertise
- History of executing with excellence: setting purposeful goals and achieving them through intelligent actions, which balance competing priorities without losing momentum behind execution
- Demonstrated leadership style which fosters accountability, transparent communication and innovation
- Demonstrated high level of emotional intelligence
- Proven outstanding collaboration, influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to sell ideas to people outside of your direct team members
- Demonstrated innovative orientation and customer first mindset

- Experience serving as a CIO of a Fortune 100 company
- Experience leading integrations & migrations a result of M&A activity
- Healthcare Specialty Benefits product background
- Demonstrated GenAI use case experiences

Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $250,000 to $325,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
