The Role
The Vice President, Global Compliance provides leadership, vision and expertise to architect, implement and oversee the company’s global compliance program. The position will report to the SVP, General Counsel and play a key role in promoting QuidelOrtho’s culture of integrity and ethical decision-making and supporting its commercial and operational excellence.
This position is preferred hybrid working out of our San Diego, Ca or Raritan, NJ office. We are also open to remote for the right background and experience.
The Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation and oversight of an effective global compliance program, including providing strategic direction to adapt and enhance the program
- Lead development and implementation of globally-integrated compliance program policies, procedures, education, training, auditing and monitoring
- Develop and implement annual and long-term strategic compliance plans that reflect the elements of an effective and integrated compliance program for the company’s global business
- Lead the implementation of global compliance initiatives and drive innovation in compliance processes, including the use of technology and data analytics to enhance capabilities
- Provide leadership and support to the company’s compliance professionals and dedicated compliance operations teams
- Oversee investigation of any allegations of non-compliance
- Support identification of potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and develop and implement associated risk mitigation programs
- Oversee the company’s Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption compliance program and other key compliance programs, including data privacy and trade compliance
- Collaborate with other corporate functions, such as Internal Audit and Human Resources, to identify and resolve ethics and compliance related concerns
- Be the subject matter expert for global compliance matters and deliver high-quality compliance advice
- Maintain a current working knowledge of laws, regulations and medical device or pharmaceutical industry guidance that affect the global compliance program, including federal and state fraud and abuse and anti-kickback statutes, OIG guidance, AdvaMed guidelines, and global anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws; and develop, update and implement programs to remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Lead compliance aspects of global crisis management, including responses to significant compliance breaches or external regulatory challenges
- Ensure that the compliance program aligns with the company’s other compliance programs, such as environmental, health and safety, quality and regulatory
- Travel to business sites, including international travel, as required by business needs
The Individual
Required
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited US law school required (or equivalent); additional compliance certification preferred
- 15+ years of compliance experience; global medical device/pharmaceutical compliance experience (with 5 years of compliance program leadership experience)
- Uncompromising business ethics
- Demonstrated leadership skills; experience managing a team of compliance reports
- Understanding of basic business concepts, strategies, and risk
- Experience conducting and implementing risk assessment programs
- Experience in leveraging compliance technology and platforms to enhance compliance capabilities and reporting
- Experience managing compliance programs in emerging markets
- Excellent judgment, interpersonal skills, strategic and analytical thinking, and the ability to assess risk and mitigations and make recommendations based on the company’s values, vision, business goals and risk appetite
- Ability to build knowledge and capability of direct reports
- Strong problem-solving/creative skills that drive legal, ethical, and reasonable business solutions
- Exceptional priority-setting skills, attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to allow effective interaction with all levels of the organization with a work style that is decisive yet approachable
- Strong change management skills in leading any required changes in compliance practices across a large, global organization

The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.
Physical Demands
Typically, 40% of time in meetings; 60% of time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for this position is $250,000 to $350,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
