The Communications Specialist, Digital Content will be a member of the Corporate Communications team. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Social Media, and will support key corporate communications priorities, build brand awareness, and help us utilize digital media to tell the BD story to customer, patient, industry, employee and prospective employee audiences. The person in this position will be responsible for the production of various types of digital content and will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the social media channels and community management.
This specialist has a passion for digital media, and the rapidly changing landscape that comes with it. This person is a storyteller, strategic thinker and skilled multimedia creator/editor who, working closely with the Social Media Manager, can take ideas from concept to finished, visual product. Additionally, this person will be comfortable collaborating with a variety of teams in a matrixed environment and working in the highly regulated medical technology industry.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with the Sr. Manager and Manager, Social Media, to execute the corporate social media content strategy
- Create engaging graphic, photo and video content with compelling narratives that appeal to diverse audiences
- Ensure alignment and incorporation of brand guidelines and standards in social content
- Assist with day-to-day management of BD’s corporate social media accounts, including scheduling/posting, monitoring and community management via our publishing platform
- Assist with organization, management and maintenance of Corporate YouTube page
- Assume ownership of regular metrics reporting for Corporate Social Media channels and campaigns
- Provide content production support as needed to the broader corporate communications team
- Act as a public relations steward in the social media space
- Help team to field company-wide requests for social media assistance and guidance
- Assist with production and distribution of social media team communications, such as a quarterly newsletter
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Attention to detail
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends and best practices
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, graphic design, videography, photo/video editing; experience with photography/videography equipment a plus.
- Ability to be creative while working within the parameters of a highly regulated industry
- Knowledge of current events and industry trends
- Ability to think critically and pivot as needed
- Strong analytics skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational and project coordination skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment with frequently changing priorities.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and software platforms quickly
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy and sound judgement
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or similar
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, graphic design, videography, photo/video editing; experience with photography/videography equipment a plus.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Internship or employment experience in social media or digital communications is desired
