This Senior Product Director role will be responsible for product development of assigned products in the Optum Rx product portfolio. As Optum Rx sources, vets and validates pharmacy care services and PBM product and business offerings, this role is critical in business case development, early-stage product design, development and execution of proofs of concept, market listening, and representation of products and concepts with all levels of the organization. You must be someone who can navigate through ambiguity to create clarity, set a vision and then gain organizational buy-in, lead by influence across functions, and have unrelenting passion to make a difference in health care.
This role will interface with Optum Rx functional partners, customers, sales and client management teams to design, develop and commercially launch product solutions for new and existing customers across multiple market segments. Skills the role must leverage include strategic thinking, understanding patient and client needs, quantitative analysis, collaboration, decision making and leadership. This role is expected to partner effectively with operations, IT, marketing, finance, sales and other functional areas, and lead cross-functional teams to develop and launch new or enhanced products. This role will focus on product initiatives at various stages of development, ranging from early ideation to in market launch, spanning across PBM and pharmacy care services. This is a manager role, leading a team of Senior Product Managers, each responsible for developing a portfolio of business concepts.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead a high performing team of Sr. Product Managers, offering day to day guidance, leadership support and strategic decision making to move product development initiatives forward
- Story telling through power point presentations to socialize product vision, build consensus and buy in across cross functional leaders
- Define and execute against product roadmaps, and drive near and long-term future enhancements that increase product value over time
- Collect, analyze and present market data (e.g., internal performance, client, competitor) in order to identify new product opportunities for the business
- Build financial models and business cases for each new product. Forecast revenue or savings opportunities associated with product development initiatives. Identify investments in development necessary to test, learn, and build
- Champion product strategies complete with market intelligence, competitive landscape, customer insights, value proposition design, and financial rigor
- Drive and manage high-quality execution across organizational lines
- Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on specific marketplace and product topics
- Support sales & account management for key client activities, including delivering client presentations
- Navigate, influence and collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to gain an understanding of business needs and adapt product strategy, priorities, and business plans accordingly

Required Qualifications
- 6+ years product management, design and execution experience (non-technical product) within a large matrix organization, with at least 2 years within Health Care industry, pharmacy, PBM or pharmaceutical manufacturer
- 2+ years of successfully leading a high performing Product team
- Experience defining and executing against product roadmaps, achieving goals in an ambiguous and matrixed work environment
- Experience building financial models and business cases, forecasting revenue or savings opportunities associated with product development initiatives
- Experience evaluating market intelligence, competitive landscape, customer insights, and value proposition design to build new product strategies
- Experience developing and delivering formal Power Point presentations, storytelling to senior leaders and clients
- Experience working collaboratively to influence and drive initiatives forward
- Experience interacting with senior leaders and representing workstream progress and recommendations to an executive audience
- Effective communication with all levels of the organization
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualification
- Experience in start-up, corporate new ventures, innovation team or other entrepreneurial work

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
