The Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Team is responsible for monitoring and measuring Off Highway Truck (OHT) performance data throughout the products’ lifecycle. The primary objective for this team is to drive improvement opportunities that are revealed through field data analysis. The analysis results are used to set priorities for technical teams assigned to resolving field issues. In addition to the job duties for a Senior Maintenance and Reliability Engineer, this individual will also lead and direct the daily work activity of other Maintenance and Reliability Engineers within the department.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- All duties for a Senior Maintenance and Reliability Engineer, plus:
- Works with Customer Support to identify and scope reliability projects.
- Assesses project complexity and assists with assigning project owners to projects.
- Works with project owners to define timelines needed to complete the project.
- Works with project owner and/or project team to create a project charter document.
- Assists in failure mode and root cause analysis exercises.
- Works with the project owner to ensure the project goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed timeframes.
- Reports and presents the status of projects to management team as required. Communicates project changes and progress.
- Prepares project status reports for management (i.e., weekly, monthly, etc.).
- Advises project owners on data analysis techniques; highly knowledgeable in the use of MIN Reliability tools available for gathering and analyzing data.
- Develops alternative solutions individually as well as in group problem solving situations.
- Exemplifies teamwork and supports team-based initiatives. Provides constructive feedback to team.
- Follows policies and procedures and supports organization's goals and values.
- Serves as a project owner if or when circumstances require it (i.e., project workload, department workload, resource availability, safety related projects, etc.).
Supervisory Duties
- Directly supervises specific employees within the Maintenance and Reliability Engineering group.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Maintenance and Reliability team.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: BS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; and eight to ten years job experience in Maintenance and Reliability Engineering; or an equivalent combination of education and related job experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency of Senior Maintenance and Reliability Engineer, plus:
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, low voltage D.C., high voltage A.C., electrical control systems, and diesel engines.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic drawings and schematics.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Uses intuition and experience to complement data.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Highly skilled in commonly used maintenance and reliability methods and work practices.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Positive, energetic, flexible, and highly organized.
- Travel domestically and internationally 20% of the time for up to 2 weeks duration.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Ability to obtain/maintain regional and site-specific safety certifications.
