The Product Owner - AHS Development is responsible for effective product backlog definition, prioritization, development planning and release management. The Product Owner works closely with management and development teams to ensure all required functionalities are developed in a prioritized manner to meet the approved business and functional requirements defined for the product. In addition to the technical aspects, the Product Owner ensures effective communication and knowledge transfer, collaborating across multiple time zones with a wide variety of other positions in the performance of their duties. Additionally, they manage integration of ancillary products that are necessary for a complete autonomous haulage system.
Responsibilities
- Directs, manages, and participates in the development planning and release management of the LME autonomous haul truck systems and software.
- In collaboration with product management and development teams, prioritize the development sequence for the product backlog.
- Translate approved functional requirements into accountable tasks and work packages for development team execution.
- Drive and set expectation of value and features to be delivered as part of the scrum / sprint planning process.
- Ensure the product backlog, development plan, and feature set release dates and status are clearly communicated and understood by all stakeholders
- Defines system and interface requirements for 3rd party technologies used in a complete autonomous haulage system.
- Develops project plans and associated project documents including system and interface requirements.
- Serves as SME for 3rd party AHS technology outside of the LME autonomous truck providing technical support for customer projects.
- Participates in the creation of development contracts.
- Manages large capital (>$500k) development projects.
- Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts with the project team and/or plan.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Estimates time and cost requirements.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Works independently and as a team member with other engineers, designers, and production personnel or on ad hoc projects.
- Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data.
- Confers with Engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Participates in Engineering Development Program.
Competencies
- Education and experience: A Master Science Degree or Master of Engineering Degree (M.S./ M.E.) with 6 to 8 years of relevant mechanical experience in an engineering environment or, a Bachelor’s degree (BSEE, BSCS,BSME, or BSMechatronic Engineering) with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in an engineering environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Autonomous Haulage System.
- Knowledge of fleet management systems used in mining.
- Knowledge of communication protocols (ex. DDS, CanOpen, J1939, etc.).
- Knowledge of wireless telemetry as applied in the surface mining environment.
- Knowledge of hardware and computing platforms.
- Knowledge of Project Management tools (ex. Microsoft Project).
- Understanding of business value related to features and functions in mining operations.
- Ability to accurately scope technical projects.
- Ability to write specifications that detail functionality.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals and procedure manuals, software specifications.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
