The Role
The Sales Engineer for McKesson Compile will be directly responsible for translating technical concepts into everyday language so that complicated products are approachable and understandable for potential buyers of McKesson Compile data. This person will work alongside the sales team to deliver critical subscription and revenue growth to the MMS P&L. This person must be equally focused on learning and maintaining deep technical knowledge of our product understanding’s customer’s needs and keeping clear documentation. They will work cross functionallysales, marketing, customer success and delivery, product, engineering, and sales operations teams. They will be expected to support and or own the creation and accuracy of the data / project specifications that are present in customer contracts and proposals.
In this role you will be supporting a sales team who sell aggregated data products (claims and HCP/HCO reference data) and analytics projects targeting Life Sciences, Biotech customers and consulting firms. You’ll occasionally work on a simple data provision (counts and coverage) or reference data counts, more complex solutions across data and analytics; as well you’ll work with our enterprise customers who purchase multiple products or to scope ad-hoc analytics projects alongside a data license. You will also work closely with our Delivery and Support team and our RWDA (Real World Data & Analytics) team, designing solutions. Key Responsibilities
There are numerous business processes for this position; all of which are focused on Customer Solutions & Success. These processes include, but not limited to, the sales operations documentation process, the proposing and contracting process, the sales development process from proposal & client problem/question through the offer development, and the on-boarding process. You will also support the sales team as they implement the plan of action for each account. Given the nature of these clients it is essential that the Sales Engineer possesses a strong executive presence and cultivates relationships across the client organization including the client's technical leads.
Additional responsibilities:
- Work closely with customers to understand their data-related challenges and requirements. Translate customer needs into functional and technical solutions and articulate how McKesson Compile’ s products can address those needs.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to customers on integrating data solutions into their existing systems. Keeps on top of changes and trends in the marketplace and how these trends impact the business.
- Assist in crafting solution proposals, contracts and presentations that effectively communicate the value of the data solutions for a variety of customer needs ranging from simple data provisions to consulting projects to complex expansion deals
- Develop specs, finalize with customer and sales director, ensure specs are correctly reflected in the proposal, SOW (Statement of Work) and Contract
- Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Assist in the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring a smooth transition from the sales phase to the customer success team and account management teams for delivery and support
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and get up to speed on new data assets.
- Inspire opportunities/deals with a 'win-win' ethos, bringing creatively to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with our internal teams; primarily Sales, RWD Analytics team and Delivery & Support to scope consulting projects and engagements.
- With a lens on customer experience, look to improve & innovate across the functions and processes listed above
- Collaboration and meetings across U.S. and India time zone, typically working overlap during the US mornings.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, drive, rigor and a sense of urgency when supporting customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/ life science industry in the following areas: sales engineering, sales, marketing consulting, data analytics, including at least 2 years of client facing roles.
- Demonstrated ability in building relationships with large pharmaceutical and biotech companies and technical data prowess for US pharmaceutical sales and marketing data.
Ideal Experience / Critical Skills
- Ability to clearly and concisely distill complex ideas and projects to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to query data with SQL and apply it to common life sciences applications and use cases
- Ability to build customer presentation decks that translate the data visually aligned to the customer/project request
- Deep attention to detail, adherence to process and organization
- Deep working knowledge of commercial Life Sciences data products (claims, EHR, provider reference data, HCP affiliations, HCO hierarchy, etc.)
- Deep working knowledge of biopharma commercial and RWE use cases and how commercial Life Sciences data is best applied
- Willingness and enthusiasm to collaborate and unify teams and work streams between India and the US
- It is good to have skills in BI tools, such as Power BI.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS/BE/BTech) or above required.
Physical Requirements
- The position is a hybrid role where the employee selects 3 days per week to work in office in Bengaluru
- Must have the ability to travel. Occasional domestic overnight travel or occasional travel to the US may be required.
Location
Prefer candidate to be based in the Bangalore area. Work is primarily in the office at McKesson Compile location.
