The Role
The Director, Global Supply Planning is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of supply planning across clinical, commercial, and strategic drug product operations. The role focuses on driving network supply planning and capacity management within the tactical horizon (0-2 years) while aligning supply chain strategies with company goals. This position will also be responsible for ensuring delivery of finished goods to clinical sites.
This role requires a strong cross-functional collaboration with Clinical, Technical Development, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure demand accuracy and to drive optimization of the value chain.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement supply and production planning processes aligned with SAP system capabilities and network needs.
- Define and monitor supply and capacity performance across the global network of assets within the tactical horizon.
- Lead supply scenario analysis and provide proposals to balance supply capacities across the network.
- Oversee the completeness, accuracy, and stability of clinical, commercial, and technical supply product requirements across the portfolio.
- Develop and implement end-to-end supply chain strategies, including inventory management, sourcing, logistics, and business continuity planning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Ensure compliance with GMP and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage lifecycle changes for product portfolios and oversee new product launches in coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Lead supply and demand review sub-processes within the Clinical and Operations Planning (C&OP) and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, manufacturing, quality, distribution, and logistics to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Manage supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders to support supply chain objectives.
- Design and maintain global supply chain KPIs in alignment with principles for supply chain excellence.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in various Supply Chain, Project Management, and Manufacturing functions, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong preference for candidates with APICS/ASCM CPIM and CSCP certifications, and extensive experience with SAP.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems (preferably SAP) and supply chain management software.
- Experience with process management and production planning.
- Proven ability to lead and influence within a matrixed organization structure.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), capable of working effectively with senior management in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong leadership abilities, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to design and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs).
- A curious, continuous improvement mindset, with a drive for operational excellence.
