The Role
As the company continues to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Data Engineer to join our Global Data and Analytics team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and optimizing our data infrastructure, ensuring that our systems provide accurate and timely data to drive decision-making across the organization.
This position is remote eligible but will work East Coast hours.
The Responsibilities
- Develop, construct, test, and maintain data and analytics infrastructure, including databases and large-scale processing systems like Azure Databricks.
- Build and optimize large data sets that meet functional business requirements.
- Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using tools such as Informatica, SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
- Monitor and manage ETL jobs to ensure smooth operation and timely completion.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide reliable data solutions.
- Optimize data delivery process and assist with any re-design of data infrastructure for greater scalability.
- Work on cloud data platforms, primarily Azure or AWS, to support data warehousing, analytics, and big data processing.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data operations procedures, troubleshooting protocols, and system configurations to ensure clarity, consistency, and ease of knowledge transfer within the team.

The Individual
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of database management, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure or AWS) and related data and analytics solutions.
- Experience or coursework in using ETL tools such as Informatica, SSIS or Azure Data Factory.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Preferred
- Internships or project experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as SQL or Python.
- Understanding of data governance and best practices in data management.
- Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau.
- Exposure to big data tools and technologies.

The Working Environment
General office - No strenuous physical activity. Typically 25% of time in meetings or meeting individually with people, 75% of the time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone. Some walking in manufacturing areas required. Position may require use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for this position is $79,000 to $85,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
