JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Patient Access & Affordability is a critical leadership position which will oversee Amneal's Patient Support Operations focused on developing brand level strategies and solutions to enhance patient access and affordability experience across the product portfolio in the US Market. This critical position reports to the VP of Market Access and Trade but will work transversally across Amneal's US organization to ensure a positive patient journey and experience to ensure access, affordability and best in class patient support. The Director will focus on managing daily activities that support patient access and affordability across core brands in specialty and biosciences (biosimilar) and build strategies that are fit for purpose Amneal's US organization which includes, but not limited to: Managing patient access programs include enrollment, prior authorization, benefit investigation, enrollment, ePrescriptions, verifications, prior authorizations, appeals and data/insights; Overseeing the execution of co-pay programs and coordinate with the business units for pharmacy/retail channels as well as buy and bill medical benefit segments for biosimilar brands; Coordinating with the reimbursement teams to manage the PAP programs across the specialty and biosimilar business units; Establishing and owning the relationship with key patient access partner organizations to maintain best in class performance of Amneal's patient support network; Managing, monitoring and providing core patient access network program data/analytics and integrating these insights into business review sessions and KPI's as required for external parties and internal stakeholders; Coordinating patient support programs across multiple business channels including but not limited commercial, buy/bill and cash markets; Overseeing the patient services activities for Amneal's biosimilar franchise as well, which reflects developing unique patient affordability strategies and capabilities across the pharmacy and medical benefit channels; Creating solutions that facilitate HCPs and provider organizations perception of ease of prescribing and likelihood of patient activation on to commercial drug and developing HCP positioning which is critically important for creating field messaging and the resulting HCP perception of excellent patient / HCP support and ease of prescribing.
The Director will possess a high business acumen to reflect the ability to coordinate across multiple vendors to ensure consistent, high quality fit for purpose services for which the preferred vendors may include traditional prescription service providers and specialty pharmacies as well as traditional hub service providers. The director will also lead the external field reimbursement teams if, and when, warranted as business needs evolve. The director will spearhead new initiatives that align with long range strategies of each brand. The planning will include launch readiness activities and resource optimization. The Director will foster collaboration across key internal stakeholders and garner support from all levels of the organization to ensure seamless integration and adoption.
The Director will manage all applicable budgeted spend and communicate with peers regarding reserve adjustments. Finally the Director will adhere to all internal and external compliance-based requirements from legal, regulatory, government reporting and pharmacovigilance requirements that must be upheld.
Essential Functions
- Build, Lead, Motivate Develop sales force awareness and direct reports; Lead development and execution of patient affordability strategies aligned with brand goals; Incorporate "voice of the patient" into patient experience programs and educate all relevant stakeholders; Coordination and collaboration with Trade team to ensure engagement with brand focused bridge programs and PAP programs; Coach and develop team members, driving performance management; Collect customer operational issues, prioritize and resolve with a sense of urgency; Develop a strong level of trust and collaboration with sales leadership, actively listening to concerns, educating on existing capabilities and partnering to identify solutions that focus on a high level of support for patients and providers; Track and report operational metrics, KPIs, program performance in partnership with Analytics as needed; Lead and develop key direct report(s), implementing training and career development opportunities; Build a strong culture and embody a unified team approach across departments; Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key data through portals; Support communication of patient service programs to customer-facing teams.
- Effectively build strategy for long term scalability and support optimization across both the Amneal Specialty and Biosimilar business units: Manage internal operating budget and vendor contractual partnerships; Lead development and execution of patient affordability strategies aligned with brand goals; Actively engage in the brand planning and launch planning activities to ensure the needs of each brand (Biosimilar & Specialty) align with Amneal’s goals and priorities; Develop and manage patient affordability and support program operations to include medical benefit management for biosimilar franchise; Lead the team towards optimal patient experience solutions while properly educating internal and external stakeholders on the team on risks and opportunities; Present opportunities for innovation to brand teams and related departments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with legal, compliance, and safety on Patient Support Program approval; Collaborate closely with Analytics and Finance for financial planning; Present opportunities for innovation to brand teams and related departments; Create SOPs and business rules documents, ensuring alignment with vendors.
- Market Access coordination on program specific and dynamics, along with the critical access, reimbursement coverage awareness
- Industry trends – continue to stay ahead of industry level dynamics, regulatory issues and new opportunities regarding industry trends to evolve innovative patient affordability solutions.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Related field (i.e. Business) - Required
- Master Degree (MBA) in Related field (i.e. Business or Public Administration - Preferred
Work Experience
- 8 years or more with Patient service management required with formal responsibility of developing content / business rules / training people and managing multiple projects within a branded pharmaceutical manufacturer - Required
- 3 years or more with Prior launch experience of branded products within Patient Services - Required

Specialized Knowledge

- Experience developing strategies to optimize patient access within highly competitive markets
- Strong financial competence and analytical skills
- Leadership experience a plus
- Direct US payer, managed care, and pharmacy experience and/or health policy experience highly desirable
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment; managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities
