In this role, you will manage and execute the maintenance and installation of IoT smart devices, including locks, thermostats, light switches, and sensors at various locations nationwide. This position requires up to 75% travel across the US.
As a Field Technician, you will conduct site surveys, document potential new projects, and review subcontractor quotes, ensuring all projects are completed accurately and on time. Your commitment to maintaining OSHA compliance and proper documentation will be essential in delivering top-notch service. Additionally, you may be called upon to train other team members and subcontractors, sharing your expertise to enhance our team’s capabilities.

What You’ll Do
- Install, repair, diagnose and provide maintenance of IoT smart devices for assigned projects.
- Review installation and maintenance reports and documentation relevant to the project: scope of work, site plans, IoT device health, work orders, etc.
- Adhere to installation schedules pre-determined and set by the project leader, the client, and available resources (product and labor).
- Ensure all IoT smart devices are operating properly prior to leaving the job site.
- Establish and ensure compliance with quality control and quality assurance standards for installation, maintenance, and connectivity for IoT system.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations during installations/maintenance operations (i.e. ensure use of hard-hats/steel toed boots at all times while on new construction job sites, etc.).
- Maintain job files on each project with all the appropriate documentation.
- Submit daily maintenance and installation reports; documentation to include, but not limited to
(Building Installation Details (BID), Completed MWO, Inventory Logs, Placed in Service Notices (PISN), Time Record Sheet (TRS), etc.) reporting status of each maintenance and installation performed (exceptions to this must be approved and completed within 48 hours of the work completed.
- Perform property surveys for new sales opportunities and/or where installation was performed by a company other than Yardi; survey documentation is completed and submitted to the Service Administrative Assistant.
- Prepare and submit recommendations and scope of work as applicable for site surveys performed.
- Assist in obtaining subcontractor quotes and permit fees information, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and submit documentation for inventory movements/activity.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standardized processes.
- Train peers as necessary, or as directed by Team Coordinator/Field Supervisor/Management.
- Participate in scheduled training activities ad company meetings as directed.
- Coordinate training of subcontractors.
- Ensure all subcontractors wear appropriate clothing and Yardi identification badges.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned for the successful operation of the region.
Who You Are
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with a minimum of three years of technical/trades experience.
- Three (3) years of experience with installing and maintenance of hardware such as locks, light switches, thermostats.
- Electrical and/or HVAC experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel and work at assigned locations for 75% of schedule.
- Proven experience completing the following documentation, but not limited to: Building Installation Details (BID), Completed MWO, Inventory Logs, Placed in Service Notices (PISN), Time Record Sheet (TRS).
- Field Technicians assigned to California must have, and maintain, a California Service Agent license.
- Proficient PC skills including: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Startup and project management skills.
- Independent problem solving and analysis skills.
- Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Must take all required safety courses as identified by Yardi.
