Job Summary
The DC Senior Director of Operations is responsible for achieving challenging business objectives, delivering high levels of customer satisfaction, always ensuring compliance with Health Canada rules and other guidelines and fostering strong and pro-active management of the Distribution Centre. The DC Senior Director of Operations plans, directs and coordinates all distribution activities and will ensure to keep up to date with competitive activity, risks and opportunities. He/she will always act upon opportunities to add value and profitability by using initiative and seeking out innovative solutions or cost savings.
Section A – Specific Responsibilities
The DC Senior Director has overall management responsibility and accountability of the Distribution Centre and the service to customers.
Leads the execution of operational strategies, including developing scalable processes that deliver the financial, cost, quality, safety, staffing, and service levels required to meet business objectives and customer expectations while ensuring financial strength and operating effectiveness.
Ensures the DC’s objectives and outcomes align with and deliver results specific to the established strategic objectives and LRP.
Leads the design, implementation and analysis of key performance indicators, metrics, goal setting, scorecards, and communication processes that effectively translate strategy into action goals and performance objectives.
Makes data driven, fact-based decisions to maximize profitability while participating as a key leader in budget development and capital planning.
Full responsibility of the opex and capital budgets. Develops and implements operational tactics for controlling operating costs and improving efficiencies at the Distribution Center.
Strategically and constantly monitors the competitive landscape and market conditions to identify opportunities, issues, and risks and recommends relevant tactics and strategies.
Responsible for ensuring that Health Canada rules and other guidelines are implemented and respected (warehouse, transportation), and that all employees in the Distribution Center are trained.
Seeks out, implements, and drives best practices, procedures and programs supporting safety, supply, compliance, labor management, quality, and people/coaching.
Champions and drives the implementation of a culture of continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma principles while promoting a continuous improvement mindset in operational processes and innovations at all levels.
Drives key initiatives in the areas of quality, safety, sustainability, cost, compliance, and service through continuous improvement management; ensures consistency and standardization throughout the distribution center
Builds a positive, progressive, collaborative, diverse, and results-oriented culture marked by employee growth, inclusion, opportunity, and trust in leadership.
Contributes to the development and deployment of the strategy and vision by partnering closely with regional and national stakeholders to optimize end to end supply chain processes in support of meeting/exceeding customer expectations.
Section B – Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (operations, logistics, supply chain), Engineering or related field
Experience in a similar position
Understanding and experience in warehousing and distribution
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
Project management experience
Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects (properly allocate resources, manage cost, set strategies, and deliver according to timelines)
Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to effectively source information, obtain approvals, build relationships, and provide sufficient influence to achieve success
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; proactive nature and willingness to challenge existing processes and propose new solutions
Able to work under minimum supervision and act as a team player
Ability to work on various shifts to accommodate distribution center needs.
