The Role
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Indirect Procurement Category Lead who is is responsible and accountable for providing procurement solution expertise and delivering maximum value ensuring efficient, smooth operational flow in the procurement of indirect goods and services. Primary focus will be on Facility Operations, MRO, and Research & Development across multiple manufacturing, Lab, and office locations. This individual will build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders across various locations to support local needs and requirements. Simultaneously, this individual will coordinate with the global and regional category leads to align and deploy a category strategy that helps to deliver optimal business value to the sites and the combined business. Must comply with, and assist internal stakeholders and customers with, corporate policies and procedures related to the function. This role interacts with all levels of the organization and across multiple functions and regions. Therefore, this role must possess strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills, and ability to accommodate multiple time zones. This position can be based in Rochester, NY, San Diego, CA, or considered for remote work within the US.
The Responsibilities
- Contract Negotiations: collaborate with business partners on negotiation strategy, lead the negotiations with vendor and managing the contract redlining process, engage other Ortho subject matter experts regarding special contract terms.
- Sourcing: lead the entire sourcing effort including RFx solicitations, proposal evaluations, supplier selection and contracting.
- Category & Sourcing Management: Lead the entire sourcing effort including RFx solicitations, proposal evaluations, supplier selection (including onboarding) and contracting.
- Develop/Foster supplier partnerships across the company. Understand business/operation issues cross-functionally, communicates the consequences to Ortho Leadership and develop proposal to mitigate / resolve the challenge
- Supplier Management: business reviews, manage underperforming suppliers, identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Contract management, project tracking, savings reporting, supplier evaluations and assessments.
- Use of SAP and ARIBA and PowerBi for spend analytics
- Ensures compliance with all government, financial, environmental, and labor regulations as required including cGMP and FDA regulated industries
- Review and analyze spend data and benchmark using industry research
- Fostering relationships with all levels of QuidelOrtho's R&D, Legal, Facilities, Operations Management, Project Management to deliver supplier strategies that achieve optimal value, pricing and service performance.

The Individual
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to concisely summarize complex information and adjust information based on audience.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Power BI, SAP and Ariba.
- 10% travel (domestic and international), depending on supply base and business needs.
Preferred
- Procurement experience in operations, compliance or sourcing preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, finance, legal and regulatory preferred.
- Prior Lab/R&D and/or Manufacturing experience preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is representative of both an office and manufacturing setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
No strenuous physical activity. General office environment with some time spent in warehouse and manufacturing areas. Some travel required depending on assigned project(s), up to 30%. Flexible work hours required to meet project deadlines.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is 94,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually.
