Starting pay: $82,404 a year
Monday - Friday
The Laboratory Manager oversees complex sample analysis to determine chemical and physical properties and ensures efficient integration with other facility operations. The role demands analytical expertise, attention to regulatory compliance, and strong leadership skills.
"Radioactive Material Handling: Prior experience in the safe handling, production, or management of radioactive materials is preferred, with an understanding of applicable safety and compliance standards."
Key Responsibilities
Sample Analysis & Troubleshooting: Perform advanced analysis of samples, identifying chemical and physical properties and troubleshooting complex issues to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Instrumentation & Equipment Oversight: Calibrate and operate sophisticated laboratory equipment, handle vendor maintenance scheduling per contract, and recommend equipment improvements or replacements as needed.
Documentation & Compliance: Complete all analysis-related documentation promptly, ensuring adherence to QA/QC standards. Maintain all required local, state, and federal testing certifications and ensure alignment with permit and discharge schedules.
Safety & Regulatory Adherence: Oversee compliance with OSHA regulations and company Health & Safety protocols, implementing the Chemical Hygiene Plan and training staff on best practices.
Lab Operations & Team Leadership: Supervise lab operations and staff, providing training, driving improvements, and managing HR functions, including hiring, evaluations, and performance management.
Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (Alternative education and experience combinations may be considered).
Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience, including lab management.
Certifications: 24/40-hour OSHA training, DOT training, and IATA certification (where approved by CHES Transportation Compliance). All required local/state credentials.
