As a Quantitative Research Consultant, you will perform a variety of research and analysis tasks to support consulting projects for federal and state governments, health plans, associations and foundations, hospitals, and health systems.
OSC/Lewin is seeking recent graduates of master’s programs in fields such as mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, economics, computer science, data science, epidemiology, or other quantitative fields to fill statistician roles. Individuals without a master’s degree who have 2 to 3 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree may fill these roles as well. Lewin assists state and federal administrations such as the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services in evaluating and optimizing healthcare program operations through a combination of analytic and policy-driven research, modeling, and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities - Contribute to projects involving the application of statistical sampling such as:
- Investigating improper Medicare and Medicaid billing
- Estimating fund recoupment associated with auditing programs
- Predicting improper billing for audit optimization
- Summarize and analyze claims data as well as perform hypothesis testing
- Perform data extractions and data cleaning
- Produce analytic reports on statistical issues

Required Qualifications - Degree Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and 2+ years of experience performing quantitative analysis, overseeing day-to-day management of project tasks, and preparing presentations and reports for clients
- Or a Master’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Academic and/or work experience performing quantitative analysis
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience preparing presentations and reports
- Proven solid oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated aptitude for interpreting data outputs and articulating findings
- Experience using software for data analysis, such as SAS, Python, R, or Tableau
- Proven solid interest in healthcare or public policy
- Proven Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office—Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, economics, computer science, data science, epidemiology, or other quantitative fields
- Experience with data analyses, such as hypothesis testing, regression modeling, and data visualization
- Experience working with large datasets
- Experience working effectively as a member of a project team
- Familiarity with medical claims data and/or medical auditing data
- Healthcare or human services research experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
