Position Summary
The Microbiology Technician duties and functions primarily involves supporting the lab ’s sterility testing procedures, sample management, and assisting senior microbiologists with daily lab operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in checking method suitability for sterility tests, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Perform sample preparation for sterility testing, including handling, aliquoting, and organizing samples for analysis.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for testing, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Enter and verify test data in accordance with cGMP and cGLP standards, maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
- Provide general maintenance, cleaning, and care of all laboratory equipment, ensuring the
- accuracy and quality of glassware and utensils.
- Clean, organize, and maintain all lab areas, including stock rooms and workspaces, while ensuring proper disposal of biohazard waste.
- Collaborate with microbiologists by assisting with equipment maintenance and cleaning work areas.
- Support the documentation and tracking of sample data, including receiving and logging samples into the system.
- Maintain proper inventory control by applying a first-in, first-out stock rotation method.
- Participate in routine lab maintenance and inventory checks to ensure operational readiness.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain compliance with laboratory safety standards and Biological
- Safety Cabinets (BSC), utilizing proper safety and workflow practices while performing all tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate effectively across departments—including Quality Assurance, Client Care, and other internal teams—to ensure smooth workflow and alignment with company objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related field, OR an Associate degree with relevant laboratory experience.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of microbiological techniques, lab protocols, and sample handling.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions with precision.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) and sterile environments (preferred).
- Physical dexterity to perform testing accurately and precisely, along with the capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and complying with company policies and SOPs, including safety rules and regulations.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain focus and complete work in a timely manner, with a willingness to adapt and learn new skills as needed.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in data entry and laboratory information systems.
- Experience in cGLP or cGMP regulated laboratories is a plus.
