The SECUROS Surgical Instrument Repair Technician is responsible for the daily servicing of surgical instruments including: repair, inspect, clean, polish, burr, and sterilize.
Works with industrial machinery to service and repair surgical instruments for veterinary use.
Repair services consist of, but are not limited to: sharpening, alignment, refinishing and refurbishing of all surgical instruments.
Use polishing equipment to achieve a high quality instrument repair as defined by customer work orders or other written documentation
Responsible for tracking inventory, return authorizations and shipping and receiving of instruments in repair center.
Process repair invoices, updates instrument tracking spreadsheets and product work summaries.
Maintains inventory of parts and supplies in the repair center and orders new products as needed.
Monitor work quality to meet established criteria from SOP’s or other defined parameters.
Achieve established targets set by supervisor to meet daily output.
Communicates effectively with customers; listens to customers’ needs and takes immediate action to meet them.
Knowledge of all instrument repair equipment such as, Bench Grinder, Mill, Press, Etch Maker, Utility Sharpener, Belt Sanders, Polishers, Autoclave and Ultrasonic cleaners) and able to service instruments as needed.
Follow established work procedures and standard practices.
Maintain clean work areas and follow guidelines of organization and equipment preventative care.
Works directly with Instrument Sales Supervisor to identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Participates in ongoing continuing education and training seminars as related to the job description.
Performs additional duties and assignments as needed.
Education:
Experience and Skills:
Minimum one year instrument repair experience, polishing and burring experience, mechanical aptitude and experience using instrument repair equipment such as Utility Sharpeners, Belt Sanders and Bench Grinders is preferred.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, presentation, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent team work are necessary.
Ability to multi-task, follow written and verbal instructions, work independently with limited supervision. Advanced working knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word are required. Previous experience in animal health industry will be helpful.
