Job Summary
Supervise the weekend shift operations (Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7am-7pm), as established by policies and procedures. Maintain and increase the level of productivity, staff morale and staff co-operation. Responsible for the enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations and McKesson Canada Health and Safety policies and program to ensure employee safety.
Section A – Specific Responsibilities
Certain responsibilities that are typically associated with a job as Director, Manager or Supervisor are included. Duties are generally included but are not limited to the following;
Ensure that customer orders are prepared and shipped with the highest degree of efficiency and accuracy within the established timelines.
Communicate night staff work schedules and duty assignments as well as approve scheduled vacations and floaters.
Ensure work practices occur in each specific workstation within the distribution environment in accordance with established operating procedures.
Plan and implement continuous improvement programs within the distribution center, working with other supervisors on all shifts to create a productive and cohesive operation.
Establish and maintain/improve daily operational standards and efficiencies.
Ensure that all employees are aware of the health and safety issues by offering training, verbal and written procedures and enforcement of safe operating procedures.
Actively participate and promote a safe positive work environment for McKesson Canada employees.
Enforce the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations and McKesson Canada Health and Safety policies to ensure employee safety.
Conduct regular safety talks, workplace inspections (as scheduled) and perform accident/incident investigations when required.
Evaluate employee’s performance through prescribed training programs and regular observations to commend /correct work practices and to encourage and assists them with their development.
Take immediate action in correcting substandard/unsafe acts or conditions.
Ensure the equipment, materials and protective devices prescribed are provided, maintained in good condition and used as prescribed.
Ensure that employees are fully trained and are aware of their responsibilities.
Organize replenishment and shorts person to ensure pick face has sufficient product.
Assist in the supervision of the Narcotics area and respond to any problems there in.
Produce a daily shift update email.
Address any employee inquires or issues pertaining to their employment.
Emphasize productivity without compromising accuracy and maintain budgetary allotted hours.
Ensure the narcotics area is staffed with knowledgeable and experienced individuals with proven track records of accuracy.
Safely clean and document any breakage or spillage of hazardous materials (cytotoxic and dangerous goods).
Assign functions to all individuals and monitor any individuals whom are not executing their assigned functions.
Section B – General Responsibilities
Train employees; evaluate their performance; encourage and assists them with their development.
Approve time sheets for payroll.
Administrative support and metric tracking.
Ensure that company policies are respected.
Maintain appropriate communication with all levels of the organization.
Assure that work areas are kept safe, organized and clean.
Follow company Health and Safety policies.
Ensure that all employees are aware of, and comply with, the health and safety issues and principles outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations by offering training (e.g. orientation and safety Talks); verbal and written safe operating procedures; perform regular workplace inspections; and enforce safe operating procedures and personal protective equipment.
