Your Role at Baxter
The Maintenance Mechanic I is a position reporting into a specific area of the plant, which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives. This is where you will be ensuring safe and efficient operations of plant manufacturing equipment through hands on maintenance and maintenance related initiatives.
Your Team
Cleveland’s technology and automation is innovative. It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles, glass IV, and various reconstitution devices. This facility produces a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling, injection molding, tubing extrusion, and device assembly.

What you'll be doing
- Repair roof
- Computer Maintenance System (PM’s)
- Repair walls/ceilings/Door/rollup doors
- Replace ceiling tile and light bulbs
- Install and replace light fixtures (110VAC and 480 VAC)
- Repair emergency light system, emergency door, interlocking doors, etc.
- Rail repair
- Cafeteria Equipment repair
- Fire system repair in maintenance
- Communication and camera system wiring installation and maintenance
- Warehouse fans
- Sanitary/process sewer repairs and maintenance
- Assist in waste water treatment repairs/maintenance : Transfer pumps, Station pumps, Oxidations ditch Rotors, Lagoon, Aerators, Instrumentation
- Assist in pest control system maintenance/repair: light traps, insect-o-cutors, bait box, Air curtains, Interlocking doors
- Utilities Repair: Steam system, Potable water system, Distilled water system.
- Air Compressor Checks
- Electrical system repair/maintenance – wiring breakers/Substations (110VAC and 480VAC)
- Process Air/Plant Air repair/maintenance
- HVAC
- Chilled water piping and pumping repair/maintenance
- Chiller repair/maintenance (30 ton to 1000 ton units)
- Air Handler repair/maintenance
- Refrigerant system repair/maintenance (DX units, Industrial coolers, freezers, incubators, molding chilling units)
- Exhaust systems
- Cooling Towers (200 ton to 2000 ton)
- Instrumentation and controls
- Cooling water piping and pumping repair/maintenance
- Filter Replacement
What you'll bring
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Minimum 3 Years General Maintenance Experience
- Experience in Pipe Fitting and Welding
- Basic Electrical Skills : Use electrical test equipment (Voltmeter ,etc.), Size fuses, circuit breakers, overloads, transformers, Read and Interpret electrical schematics
- Ability to Install and Troubleshoot Motor Control Circuits, Relay Logic, PLC’s
- Ability to Maintain and Troubleshoot Air Conditioning and Heating Systems
- Visual Acuity and Audiometric Testing Required per Baxter Procedure
- Ability to Lift up to 50 LBS., push/pull up to 30 LBS.
- Ability to Bend, Stoop, Climb Ladders and reach Above the Shoulders
- Meet Confined Space Requirements
- Ability to Work in Hot/Cold Temperatures
- Ability to Work at Heights

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $52,800 - $72,600 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than that of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
