For the workshop maintain, re-certify, diagnose, adjust, repair or overhaul service tools, equipment. Ensure proper preparation and organization of tools and job boxes. Periodic audits and data logging on condition and location of service, rental, and Workshop related tools, equipment, and assets.
In the field, apply electrical and mechanical theories and related knowledge in repair or service of Maritime Cranes utilizing proper tools. Ability to operate overhead crane, mechanical boom and cable equipment to troubleshoot component, and equipment failures and evaluate correctness and completeness actions. Sets the positive example in punctuality and professional demeanor by respectful communication with all levels of staff and peers, keeping working areas clean and orderly, and promoting safety regulations and all other company programs.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties: Workshop
- Manage Workshop assets, such as; overhead crane(s), heavy duty equipment, job boxes, engineer tools, welding equipment, rigging equipment, consumables.
- Track, maintain, repair, replenish, calibrate, and re-certify all company issued tools, containers, and job boxes.
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts, tools, and equipment to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
- Overhaul, test, and examine tools, parts, and equipment for damage or excessive wear to ensure operational efficiency.
- Distribution and allocation of tools needed for field service engineers, service jobs, and/or company vehicles.
- Annually and periodically perform all required on-site inspections and Audits for all distributed tools.
- Perform bi-weekly Six-sigma Audits, follow through with charts, matrixes, and corrective actions.
- Replenishment of the consumables needed for the shop and/or field service work using company Purchasing Requisition system.
- Assist management with company service vehicles for tracking of proper maintenance, repairs, and cleaning.
- Track and maintain a log of all repairs and certifications done on tools and/or equipment performed by third party companies.
- Knowledge and ability to use all hand-held tools, hydraulic presses, cylinders, grinders, welding and pressure gas equipment.
- Safe keeping and maintain cleanliness of the workshop area.
- Knowledge, usage, and applications of Personal Protective Equipment. Ensures procedures and PPE have been organized and suitable for all hazards.
- Proper reporting and handling of all fluids, oils, and lubricant spills in the Workshop area.
- Promotes a safe work environment by ensuring all of the company safety policies and procedures being followed.
- Follows directions for the handling and disposing of hazardous wastes, such as toner, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, auto parts cleaner and similar material.
Essential Job Duties: Field Service Technician
- Proper knowledge of fluids and lubricants, re-filling per technical data and machine specifications.
- Replace and install new oil, air, and hydraulic filters on any machine under service contracts on customer sites.
- Transport tools and/or job boxes between office and local customers.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair works or modifications to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
- Operate and inspect heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts and pressure gauges.
- Meets highest quality standards through visual and mechanical inspection methods.
- Attends and successfully completes company assigned, classroom, and online TELL trainings.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of SCULI, LIDIA, Crane Management, and other Maritime Cranes related software.
- Prepare for jobs by checking tools, parts, equipment, and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Properly fills out work and travel related hour reports, weekly timesheets, hour overviews, and expense reports.
- Assists lead service engineers with periodic maintenance checks and services.
- Maintains a minimum set of tools required by the company for job performance.
- Maintains a positive attitude and role model for the other employees to follow.
- Maintains company service literature and maintains a high awareness of technical changes.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: High school graduate or GED.
- Demonstrated initiative to visualize, organize, manage, and complete projects in individual and group settings.
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to multi-task while completing work in a competent and professional manner.
- Competency in mechanical and electrical technical engineering application.
- Demonstrated ability to perform welding using different types of equipment.
- Travel domestically and/or internationally up to 50% of the time per year.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
- Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends and/or perform on call duty.
