Summary
The main responsibility of the Operations Supervisor is to manage the organization of medical waste operations and transportation. This role also supports the oversight of daily activities within the facility, including but not limited to safety, training, facility compliance, receiving, shipping, and document management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.
- Oversee all processing operations in conjunction with warehouse lead.
- Manage and oversee all transportation operations in conjunction with Dispatch.
- Work with Operations, Sales and Hospital teams to accomplish daily deliveries and urgent customer requests/service.
- Perform routine quality control checks on sharps washing machines / containers to ensure sanitation protocols are being met.
- Responsible for discarding and recording and unrepairable equipment so proper inventory adjustments can be made.
- Identify, measure, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Follow up with any missed stops and help coordinate with the customer on a new pickup.
- Manages State permits and renewals.
- Ensures continual improvements of productivity standards and worker safety in all phases of the plant operations.
- Communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance evaluations, recommends salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and dismissals.
- Maintain Budget and P&L.
- Administers all Company policies and procedures, communicates to staff, interprets as necessary, ensures compliance and safety.
- Monitors and ensures that staff is performing their functions safely and productively. Makes recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary.
- Monitors vehicle inspections and repairs for SQG fleet and schedules rental trucks when needed.
- Review, analyze, and approve payroll hours to ensure overtime is necessary and all employees are working efficiently.
- Maintain industry knowledge to keep up with changing regulations, requirements and changes within all regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, DEQ, EPA, TJC, etc.)
- Manage and oversee the fleet management system (HOS, Safety videos, and coaching)
- Serve as a backup driver only when needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrates knowledge of DOT, OSHA and EPA Regulations.
Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications to include spreadsheets and word processing.
Demonstrates knowledge of inventory management and routing and rerouting.
Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
Desire to help automate, streamline and document processes.
Organized, self-motivated, ability to multi-task and work independently.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- Education equivalent to graduation from high school or the equivalent in related work experience
- Two or more years of customer service experience required. Previous route management experience is a plus.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
- Maintains current required driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
- Demonstrates good computer skills.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, background and motor vehicle records check.
Language Skills
Ability to effectively communicate in English, read, and understand regulatory requirements. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
