The Opportunity
This position works out of our Orlando, FL location in the Abbott Heart Failure, Acelis Connected Health business. Our Heart Failure solutions are helping address some of the World’s greatest healthcare challenges. As the Medical Billing Specialist II, you’ll have the chance to process accounts payable vendor invoices and check requests. Make cash disbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
The Medical Insurance Collector is responsible for facilitating the daily management of billing, accounts receivable and overseeing the collection efforts for the Continuum business. The position requires the development and standardization of procedures for new payers and for the collection of co-payments from clients. In addition, this position provides analysis and reporting of collection metrics such as critical aging trends and works with clients to establish the need for financial assistance as necessary.
What You’ll Work On
- Follow work list prioritization of accounts as established by department policies and procedures.
- Responsible for all aspects of follow-up on accounts, including contacting payers and patients when necessary and accessing payer websites.
- Accurately document accounts collection notes.
- Responsible for processing appeals and researching claims.
- Follow specific payer guidelines for appeals submission.
- Prioritize and manage accounts to resolve high priority-high dollar accounts and detnorization of aging.
- Complete AR adjustments where appropriate.
- Demonstrates knowledge of government payers guidelines (Medicare/Medicaid).
- Comply with and adhere to all regulatory compliance areas, policies, and procedures (including HIPAA and PCI compliance requirements).
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs any other function as required by management.
- Represent the company and team professionally and positively.
- Meet and exceed daily and monthly production goals.
- Effective communications with staff and management.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- An associate degree in business with some accounting or finance courses is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of two years’ experience in an accounting department.
- Ability to process numerical data quickly and accurately.
- Ability to organize time and prioritize work.
- Computer skills in database and spreadsheet software. Ability to use a ten-key calculator.
