As a
Billing Representative, you will work by phone or correspondence to gather information and generate accurate billing statements to our customers for their insurance premiums. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with office experience who is interested in moving into a new area while learning additional skills.
This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm CST.
We offer 2 weeks of paid training during normal business hours.
If you are located in CST OR EST, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
- Researches, obtains, and enters missing information/demographics for completion of accessions
- Conducts data entry for completion of accessions
- Demonstrates competency in eligibility, billing and receivable systems and associated applications
- Educates external customers on how to provide complete billing information and avoid additional contacts for information
- Review medical documentation for diagnoses codes as needed
- Maintains timely, accurate documentation for all appropriate transactions
- Reports problems, errors, and denial trends to management including PHI breaches
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Meets the performance goals established for the position in the areas of efficiency, accuracy, quality, patient and client satisfaction and attendance
- Perform daily set / steady production (requirement is 60 requisitions per hr.)
- Other duties and tasks as required/cross functional training

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 1+ year of medical billing OR collections experience
- Ability to use computer and Windows PC applications, which includes keyboard and navigation skills and learning new computer programs
- Reside in CST OR EST
- Ability to work between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST from Monday - Friday
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of healthcare customer service experience in a phone support role OR medical billing office
- Previous medical terminology experience
- Certified medical coder through AAPC
- Understands multiple medical billing requirements across varied payers and states
- Prior experience in a call center setting

- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
