Director, Site Operations - San Jose
The Director, Operations is part of the Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) in our Analytical Instruments Group. CMD applies technology excellence and deep applications' expertise to provide analytical solutions in the areas of biopharma, environmental, and food safety. The position will be site based.
Reporting to the Vice President of Global Operations the Director of Operations leads all operational functions and is involved in the production and distribution of multiple sophisticated scientific instruments. In this role, you will be responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement in support of on time deliveries to our customers and total productivity. Specifically, you will provide direction and site leadership to the following functions: manufacturing, procurement, planning, facilities, logistics, and EH&S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of production processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement best in class operational strategies.
- Lead production schedules for on-time delivery.
- Supervise and lead production teams.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training.
- Foster a positive and safe work environment.
- Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Implement quality control procedures and conduct inspections.
- Address quality issues promptly in collaboration with the Quality team.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and training.
- Develop and enforce safety policies.
- Prepare and manage the plant's budget.
- Balance expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure efficient use of resources.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles.
- Stay updated with industry trends.
- Maintain open communication with senior management and departments.
- Prepare and present performance reports.
- Address operational issues promptly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- A proven experience of 10 years in a manufacturing environment.
- 5 years plus of record expertise of leading manufacturing operations sites.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Excellent leadership, team management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with production management software.
- Business & Financial Competence by understanding & applying knowledge of the business and insights from financial data to determine best action and advance the organization’s goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards.

Compensation And Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $203,000.00–$261,900.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
