JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Lab Chemist I
Location: Buttonwillow, CA Facility
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Lab Chemist I role is a hands-on position responsible for sample preparation and analysis to determine chemical and physical properties, with a focus on safety and compliance in the Clean Harbors Waste Management System. This is an on-site role, offering a structured, fixed schedule without travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure health and safety as the primary focus by adhering to Clean Harbors’ policies and protocols.
- Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company health, safety, and compliance standards.
- Perform analyses of samples according to standard procedures, addressing minor problems as they arise.
- Calibrate and utilize instrumentation and perform basic equipment maintenance.
- Maintain organized records and complete all paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all work aligns with QA/QC standards.
- Manage supplies, housekeeping, and best practices in assigned areas.
- Properly handle waste generated through analytical procedures.
Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related physical science (required).
- Experience: 2+ years in a hands-on lab environment, particularly with GCMS instrumentation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in conducting chemical tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations.
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain an organized workspace.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
