This role leads the entire global application engineering team, which may include other management personnel who lead sub-teams. This role is accountable for the strategy, performance, and work output of the entire team. In doing so, this person leverages extensive leadership experience, business communication skills, strategic insight, industry knowledge, and technical subject matter expertise to ensure that the team’s work is of the highest quality, exceeds market requirements, and is delivered on time and on budget. Guides strategic and tactical goals for the greater team, as well as manages goal setting and performance management of direct reports. Serves as a primary touchpoint to business leadership and cross-functional leaders. Collaborates with leaders in product management, sales, and other stakeholder groups to ensure that the team’s work is aligned with business goals and is appropriately communicated across stakeholder teams. This work is accomplished independently and with minimal direction.

Responsibilities:
- Complete responsibility and accountability for all aspects of machine vision application engineering function
- May direct and manage activity through tiers of managers of subgroups of the department/team who report to the director
- Oversees entirety of the company's global application engineering labs, as well as remote testing infrastructure, in order to ensure the ability to respond to product/solution challenges rapidly and effectively
- Manages significant functional discipline at a business or regional level. Involved in the strategic growth of a business.
- Develops and establishes operational policies and practices in areas managed. Accountable for and contributes significantly to profitability and/or cost containment for area managed.
- Responsible for planning and management of a significant operating budget
- Regularly interfaces with senior leadership of other departments to align functions of key internal/external organizations.
- Design metrics and methods to measure and report on team activities and accomplishments.
- Negotiates with suppliers, strategic partners, and/or internal customers to achieve business goals.
- Responsible for areas with complex or conflicting legal requirements or cultures.
- Balances business function success in support of total company strategy. Requires collaboration and operational execution with other businesses or external entities.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and supplier relationship management. Extensive expertise in product, technology, service, strategy, and business complexities
- Guides the development, design, and evaluation, of systems to validate customer requirements or roadmap plans. Determines/directs approaches to customer solutions as needed
- Internally and externally recognized leader who exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Serve as company spokesperson to media, analysts, and in customer meetings
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or in a related field is required
- 15+ years’ experience in the data capture/vision field
- 6+ years managing teams with direct reports
- Knowledge of manufacturing and/or logistics processes and environments
- Experience with machine vision, computer vision, or image processing including architecting and integrating system solutions
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s of Business Administration
- Certified Vison Professional a plus
- Advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial automation systems a plus

Salary: USD 170400.00 - USD 255600.00 Yearly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
