Under general direction of the Vice President, Business Development for SPS, the Senior Director - Business Development Operations is responsible for leading the process to develop and implement improved strategies and tactics to ensure business development opportunities are integrated across SPS and in connection with Specialty GPOs. The Senior Director - Business Development Operations will also collaborate with all SPS business development associates in multiple business units to continuously execute the integrated selling processes for better business to business partnership opportunities and ultimately to drive revenue growth. This role is also responsible for management and oversight of any SPS BD Operations functions related to include pipeline management, selling technology enhancement, and integrated business development communication within SPS.
This is a US based remote role.
- Document Business Development relationships within a Program Charter for each Business Development partner for internal use and education
- Develop and execute business development pipeline monitoring process and tracking Lead cross functional workstreams with business partners to execute integrated business development strategy and tactics
- Optimize the ROI for salesforce.com. Evaluate usage, business protocols, data requirements, the benefit of purchasing new industry data, and all other aspects of the CRM
- Identify ways to reduce time to contracting or ease of contracting across SPS
- Collaborates with business development associates across SPS to review business and sales data and provide suggested strategic direction to foster faster growth
- Leverages content marketing resources, conferences, customer events, corporate websites, and social media channels to enhance lead generation
- Continuously executes business development processes while supporting ongoing enhancements to the process and technology for integrated business development
- Analyzes, prioritizes, and transitions ad hoc business development leads to the most appropriate business development associate across multiple business units for follow up and/or initiate first outreach
What your background should look like
- Requires broad training in fields such as sales, marketing, pharmacy science, or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree program
- Requires 10+ years' experience in business development, strategic consulting or other analytical work in the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industries
- Experience with an emphasis on operational processes to drive sales is preferred
- Healthcare marketing, business development, and account-based sales experience required
- MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred
- Experience in building and maintaining customer profiles
- Demonstrated experience acting as strategic thought partner to teams
- Experience working in a highly matrixed environment and standing out as a successful collaborator
- Ability to analyze and improve sales processes and tools, to include proposals
- Experience in analyzing buyer behaviors to capitalize on selling opportunities
- Experience in developing effective metrics for sales operations success
- Customer contracting and compliance requirements a plus
- Customer procurement strategy experience a plus
- Proven track record in a role with monthly and quarterly demand generation and revenue targets
