Job Description
Overview
The Senior Human Factors Specialist is responsible for providing end-to-end project support and consultation on human factors programs for medical devices.
Reporting
The Senior Human Factors Specialist reports to the Managing Director or designated senior team member.
Duties And Responsibilities
The Senior Human Factors Specialist duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plan, conduct (i.e., moderate) and report on human factors activities in support of customer programs.
- Manage ongoing project communications with customers and the project team.
- Remain current in human factors regulatory requirements.
- Conduct work activities on time, on budget.
- Conduct work activities in accordance with the Quality Management System.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by the Managing Director or senior staff as needed.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Human Factors or a related discipline, or minimally 3-5 years working as a human factors specialist (or similar field like UX).
- A solid understanding of the healthcare industry and ecosystem including medical device usage and roles and responsibilities of participants. In lieu of healthcare experience, another industry area with direct program management and study moderation is acceptable.
- Minimum of 3-5 year's experience in planning, preparing for, and conducting user research in the healthcare space, inclusive of formative and validation studies.
- Must have several years of direct study moderating experience and advanced root cause analysis experience, design recommendations based on the root causes, and excellent writing skills.
- Working knowledge of human factors standards and guidelines (e.g., AAMI, ISO/IEC, FDA) for the design and evaluation of medical devices and experience with hardware ergonomics and user interaction design data, principles and practices.
- BCPE certification as a CHFP or CPE, if degree is not human factors.
- Mastery of Microsoft Word and Excel, included advanced editing in each.
- Proven project management skills and ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a distributed company.
- Effective team-player with leadership experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills and technical writing ability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented, self-driven, fast-learner
- Ability to travel throughout North America
