The Director, Data Science is responsible for architecting and developing data-science solutions such as machine learning models, data exploration and visualization, predictive analysis and artificial intelligence driven tools to explore, create, and maintain advanced data-driven solutions for the problems and opportunities at Inmar Intelligence. This role collaborates with business units, product development, and application engineering to identify and understand how innovative uses of data can solve internal and customer business problems, improve workflows and provide actionable insights across the Inmar healthcare product portfolio
This role provides thought leadership on Inmar strategic plans for new data based products and solutions, works cross functionally on implementation of these solutions, and manages the Data Science team, both from personnel and technical perspectives.
Primary Accountabilities:
Technical (80%)
Demonstrate excellent understanding and competence in the tools, techniques, and technologies used by the team including but not limited to: machine learning algorithms, statistical methods, Artificial Intelligence, data visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker, commonly used data science programming languages such as Python and SQL, and familiarity with tools such as Hadoop, and Snowflake, Demonstrate superior collaboration with senior leadership in identifying prospective data science solutions that align with Inmar goals, as well as working with business units and product development teams to implement those solutions
Demonstrate superior collaboration with application engineering to build robust and secure solutions that integrate with production products using industry best practices for Data engineering including data pipelines, ETL processes and big data storage
Demonstrate superior communication skills with internal stakeholders, including both highly technical audiences and business owners. Acts as an effective technical spokesperson with customers and other external stakeholders as needed
Demonstrate a drive to keep skills and knowledge up to date
Demonstrate innovation and continuous improvement
Demonstrate professionalism with focus on customer satisfaction and product quality
Leadership (20%)
Expand awareness and understanding of Data Science to peers and senior leadership
Demonstrate superior competence in managing team dynamics and organizational culture, with the objective of ensuring team effectiveness
Provide coaching and mentoring to team members in their professional and technical development
Work with minimal supervision and assumes leadership responsibilities on multiple, concurrent projects
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics or any related field with an applied quantitative and experimentation focus
Masters or PhD Degree in quantitative and experimentation focused field highly preferred 10-12 years of related work experience in machine learning, data visualization, and other data science techniques, including at least 4 years managing others; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the job responsibilities
Strong experience in software development (scripting, programming, versioning, testing, deploying) on Linux and Microsoft Platforms
Expert level knowledge of relational databases and associated ETL processes, including experience with SQL, and large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop and or working in Snowflake/Databricks. Experience in best practices in data science and engineering delivery (version control, code review, production grade solutioning, etc.)
Highly proficient with presentation software: Microsoft Office & Google Suites with extensive experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
