Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Buyer/Planner position is a key role within the Site Supply Chain organization. This position is responsible for the understanding and application of supply chain management concepts in a global business environment. The primary responsibilities of this position are to insure continuity of materials supply, quality, and overall cost management consistent with Company policy and financial and operational performance standards and objectives. Key Performance Indicators include customer service levels, production schedule attainment, and inventory range of coverage.
Responsibilities: Essential Duties
- Establish specifications in terms of optimal quantity to purchase, quality required, and the cost impact on budget.
- Select suppliers according to the type of product, quality provided by the supplier, and the possibility of partnership.
- Negotiate contracts that include costs, delivery, handling, and penalties for late delivering or cost overruns.
- Manage purchasing cycle, including generating requisitions, PO creation, PO follow up, goods reception, and final payment
- Monitor supplier performance using the Supplier Scorecard program and manage actions based on outcomes
- Create, monitor, verify for data accuracy and maintain applicable planning master data in the ERP system.
- Determine inventory management strategies and objectives
- Minimize inventory investment by managing inventories to optimal levels based on manufacturing requirements and company financial objectives as defined in the KPIs.
- Identify process and system improvement opportunities and, using root cause analysis and other lean tools, determine and implement solutions that drive inventory reduction and elimination of non-value added activities
- Control incoming freight and handling costs

- Requires full working knowledge of relevant business practices and procedures in professional field. Uses standard theories, principles and concepts and integrates them to propose a course of action.
- Work under minimal supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training , assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Referring only complex problems and issues.
- Judgement is required in resolving all day-to-day problems
- Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Frequent contact with external contractors/vendors.
