Position Summary
The Safety Technician is responsible for completing assignments that enhance safe operations in the facility. Additionally, the Safety Technician proactively identifies potential safety issues and helps report/resolve them immediately.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete assigned projects.
- Assists in reviewing, revising, and creating safety procedures.
- Oversees chemical safety, Safety Data Sheets and chemical waste disposal.
- Participate in incident investigations.
- Performs building inspections to assess possible risks of exposure to potential hazards
- Facilitates monthly safety team meetings.
- Ensure proper PPE’s are being used.
- Administers and tracks in-person safety training.
- Assist with ergonomics assessments, assist in managing HAZMAT and chemical storage programs, and evaluate fire prevention plans.
- Assist in the development of EH&S training programs and conduct training as needed for the clients and as directed by the Safety Leader.
- Observe employees to ensure they are practicing safe work practices.
- Writing reports about safety issues and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Maintaining safety equipment such as, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AEDs, etc.
- Training employees on safe work practices and emergency response procedures.
Knowledge & Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create safety reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs. (Word, Excel, and Forms)
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work alone or with a team.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma
- 1-3 years of Safety experience preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Work is performed in a clean room environment, as well as an office environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Safety Technician is required to use computer or touch screen to enter work order data
- Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 25 lbs.
