As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll play a vital role in our inpatient pharmacy environment, ensuring the safe preparation of medications for children. This position, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, and delivery of medications and information and other pharmaceutical products to Phoenix Children’s patients in a timely and accurate fashion and in accordance with established regulations and procedures. This position performs hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding. This position must maintain at least two (2) position specific competencies in accordance with the Pharmacy Department competency requirements. This position receives direct supervision from Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisors and Managers.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
Experience
- 6 or more months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician I at Phoenix Children?s OR 2 or more years of hospital pharmacy experience at an outside institution. (Required)
- Experience with automated dispensing cabinets or equivalent. (Preferred)
Certifications
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arizona. (Required)
- National Certification PTCB, ExCPT or equivalent. (Required)
- Current BLS Certification, Medication History Certificate, and/or Technician Product Verification Certificate. (Preferred)
- Certified in Sterile Product & Cytotoxic Compounding or equivalent experience. (Preferred)
Special Skills
- Experience with various types of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite. (Required)
