Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Industrial engineer responsible for sustaining the processes and process documentation within one or more production areas in the Allentown medical device manufacturing facility, with a focus on automated assembly equipment. Make data-driven decisions to prioritize and drive various initiatives for the improvement of process safety, quality, efficiency and/or cost.
- Supports daily production operations for medical device manufacturing.
- Knowledge of automated manufacturing methods and processes.
- Acts as an industrial engineering subject matter expert for all manufacturing initiatives in the defined areas of responsibility within the production facility, including: kaizens, product and process changes, change control, and validation/qualification.
- Responsibility for maintaining engineering documentation related to FDA and medical device quality systems.
- Preferred knowledge and skills in machine design, project management, and lean manufacturing.
- Preferred knowledge of SAP, data analytics, statistical analysis, statistical process control, SCADA/historian, process trending, and OEE.
Responsibilities: Essential Duties
- Develops, evaluates and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase and parts.
- Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

- Work under minimal supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training , assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Referring only complex problems and issues
- Judgement is required in resolving all day-to-day problems
- Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Frequent contact with external contractors/vendors.
